推薦者1名を選出します。

ANNOUNCEMENT
Henry S. Kaplan Distinguished Scientist Award

The International Association for Radiation Research established in 1985 the Henry S. Kaplan Disting
uished Scientist Award. The purpose of the award is to honour outstanding contributions to the field
of radiation research. Any scientist who has made superior contributions to the field through inves
tigations in physics, chemistry, biology or medicine is eligible. Previous recipients of this award
were Professors Mortimer M. Elkind (1987), H. Rodney Withers (1991), Gerald Edward Adams (1995), Joh
n B. Little (1999), Eric J. Hall (2003), J. Martin Brown (2007), P. Richard Hill (2011) and O. Niwa
(2015).

The award is presented every four years at the International Congress of Radiation Research (which w
ill be held in Manchester, UK in 2019). A plenary session is designated for the award ceremony, incl
uding a lecture by the awardee, who receives a medal, a certificate and a cash prize. Nominations ma
y be submitted either by an individual or by a society. Each nomination should include a current cur
riculum vitae, bibliography and a brief (e.g. 3-page) narrative describing the accomplishments of th
e nominee. Additional letters of support, up to a maximum of two, may be included with the nominatio
n papers.

Nominations for the 2019 award are now invited, and should be submitted by 1st August 2018 to Profes
sor Penny Jeggo, Secretary-Treasurer IARR, University of Sussex, Brighton, East Sussex, BN19RQ (p.a.
jeggo@sussex.ac.uk). All nomination packages will be forwarded to the Selection Committee, comprisin
g Professors Mary-Helen Barcellos-Hoff, Yoshiya Shimada and Marco Durante. The recipient of the Kapl
an Award will be notified before the end of October 2018.
